Hof Germany

Camp Hof was joint US and West German post, and home during border patrol stints. 

A remaining section of the East West German border in a village it divided which we called Little Berlin. This was a regular stop on patrols. It is now a museum.  

Two US jeeps in the museum. The one on the right has 2nd Cav bumper markings which permitted it to be driven right up to the border. 

I stood on this very spot on almost every patrol. The East German guards would meet us at this fence for cigarettes and Playboy magazines which we would leave behind. 

Gates are now open. 

Blue and white posts are US markings, black, red and yellow posts are East German. 

TZP, TriZonal Point which is the point where East Germany, West Germany, and Czechoslovakia came together. We patrolled from this point 22km north.  

Grave of German unknown soldier who died in July 1945 was maintained by 2nd Cavalry and still maintained by US Army. 

Original Bavaria/Saxony border markings which we had to locate and check regularly. The East West German border followed these stones with some minor deviations based on survey errors at the time.
